About James Valley
I am a graduate of Helena-West Helena Public Schools and the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Juris Doctorate (Law Degree). I obtained my Mississippi law license in October 1995 and Arkansas law license in April 1996. I have worked in private practice in Arkansas and Mississippi for over 12 years. During 2005-2006, I taught 9th grade English at Central High School. I currently teach a Criminal Justice class at our local community college to high school students. I served one term on the Martin Luther King Commission. I also served two terms (2 years each) as a Justice of the Peace in District Seven on Phillips County’s Quorum Court. I am in my second term as mayor of the newly consolidated City of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. I am a Mason (James Alexander Lodge), a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity (West Helena Alumni Chapter), and a member and corporate sponsor of the Central Cougars' Booster Club. I am also a member of several other organizations. I am a Baptist and a lifelong resident of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. My wife, Elizabeth, is a Registered Nurse. We have five (5) children. We attend First Baptist MB Church under the leadership of Dr. Nathaniel Hull, Sr.
